Rod Stewart has become a father for the eighth time at the age of 66, to a baby boy named Aiden.
Stewart's wife, Penny Lancaster, gave birth on Wednesday to Aiden, who weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces, according to a statement on the singer's website.
"Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy," the statement said.
Stewart and Lancaster also have a five-year old son, Alistair. Following his birth Lancaster underwent IVF fertility treatment and became pregnant with Aiden on the third cycle.
The baby was born in the UK but representatives for the couple would not give any further details.
Lancaster, a photographer and model, revealed in a magazine interview last year that she was pregnant and talked about the difficulties they had experienced.
Recalling the moment she found out she was expecting, she told Hello! magazine: "I couldn't believe it. I burst into tears. I called Rod when I was still sobbing."
Lancaster is Stewart's third wife and they married in Italy in 2007.
The "Sailing" singer has children with each of his previous wives, Rachel Hunter and Alana Hamilton, as well as from a relationship with model Kelly Emberg. His first child, Sarah, was given up for adoption when the singer was a teenager.
Lancaster said they had been on an "emotional rollercoaster" after learning they could not conceive naturally.
Stewart is due to play a series of live shows in the US next month.
