While celebrity marriges come and go, heck some never make it past the engagement phase, one thing is sure if celebrities are involved you can expect a really amazing diamond to be involved.
While Jennifer Lopez or J Lo and Ben Affleck never did get married that didn’t stop their engagement ring from making headlines. The 6.1 carat intense pink diamond was set in platinum band and had two trapezoid shaped side stones and came from the legendary Beverly Hills Harry Winston and was reported to have cost over 3 million dollars.
When Jessica Simpson was married to Nick Lahey she wore an emerald cut diamond ring that was 4 carats flanked by two smaller diamonds. This went with her 8 carat wedding band. That is of course until she realized her “boots were made for walking” and walked out on poor Nick. Nick soon after got engaged to Vanessa Minnillo and two are scheduled to wed in 2007.
Known for his leading man star power and uncontrollable urge to jump on the couches of talk show hosts, Tom Cruise gave his wife Katie Holmes a 5 carat Edwardian style oval cut engagement ring. If we’re talking about celebrity engagement rings, it’s impossible to not mention the hotel Heiress Paris Hilton. Paris received a 24 carat emerald cut diamond ring from Greek shipping heir Paris Lastis. However their romance sunk and Paris sold the ring for charity giving the proceeds to victims of Hurricane Katrina. There’s been much speculation about her relationship with Stavros Niarchos, Paris has even been rumored to be wearing a faux engagement ring on occasion, but currently he has yet to propose.
When Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were married he custom designed their wedding rings and had them engraved with each others names and the year 2000. Brad has moved on and is now with Angelina Jolie. While the two aren’t yet engaged, rumor has it they are giving up traditional rings and giving each other children from third world countries instead.

In fact giving of precious stones other than diamonds is a very common practice outside of the United States. While technically not an engagement ring a look at diamond jewelry wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Elizabeth Taylor. She also owned the Taylor Burton diamond a gift from Richard Burton which is 69.4 carats in size. She later donated this diamond to help build a hospital in Africa.
